Baby Boomers Can Restore their Youthful Looks with Plastic Surgery

Baby boomers are considered a part of one of the greatest generations. They are a vital part of the United States’ economy and population, and as they are aging, baby boomers have begun to live a healthy lifestyle. It is not uncommon to hear of men and women from the ages of 50 to 65 eating healthily, going to the gym, and living their lives to the fullest. Some boomers have taken their youthful living to the next step, and have incorporated plastic surgery to help them look as young as they feel.

This might seem like a minor element in an individual’s life, but if a person feels that their outward appearance does not match what they feel like on the inside, they might be dissatisfied with the way they look. Perhaps they have entered the dating scene again, or perhaps they simply want to appear refreshed and rejuvenated. Either way, there is nothing wrong with wanting to reverse the effects of time and age on the body.

Board certified plastic surgeons could discuss the options available to individuals who want to look into plastic surgery. Examples of facial rejuvenation can be non-operative such as Botox from San Diego, lower limited facelift, neck lift, eyelid surgery in San Diego, or a traditional facelift.

The point of plastic surgery is not to look completely different; a person should look as natural as possible. As technology and medical science has advanced, some treatments can be performed in only a few hours’ time.

Other procedures one seeks may not be facial. Women may also consider a breast lift in San Diego as one of their options.

Once an individual has decided that he or she is interested in a cosmetic procedure, the next step to be made is finding the ideal plastic surgeon to perform the procedure that is wanted. This should not be done in a hurry; a plastic surgeon and patient should be able to discuss a surgery freely. This is the time to ask questions that the patient naturally has about the procedure, and the doctor can explain the process in depth.

In addition, a surgeon should be able to take a look at the patient’s medical history to see if there is a medical issue that would make it challenging for the surgery procedure or impede the recovery process. Surgeons might decide on a different protocol that is in the best interest of the patient.

If the individual does not have a medical history that could be a concern, the doctor can help the baby boomer reach his/her aesthetic goals. The patient will become one of the 10 million people in the United States that has undergone one type of cosmetic procedure. They will feel rejuvenated and revitalized after the procedure and healing process, and can feel comfortable knowing that their outward appearance is exactly what they want it to be.

Living a healthy lifestyle and having realistic expectations about cosmetic surgery is highly recommended.

A Mommy Makeover at any Age

A wonderful rejuvenating procedure is to help moms look as good as they feel. And this medical procedure performed by a board certified plastic surgeon is called a mommy makeover. It is a surgery that many women have welcomed into their lives when diet, exercise, and eating healthy are not making the impact they hoped for.

A mommy makeover can help redefine a woman’s silhouette by enhancing the abdominal and breast regions through the following procedures:
  • Tummy Tuck
  • Breast Lift
  • Breast Lift with augmentation
A woman may decide to undergo a mommy makeover in their thirties, while others may feel that their forties is the best time to do it. And in other cases, a woman may decide to undergo her San Diego tummy tuck and breast lift in their fifties. Every patient differs in their aesthetic needs and when they are ready to personally reinvest in themselves.

Many patients agree that the surgery gives them a renewed sense of self-confidence.

While some women may be immune to abdominal separation caused by pregnancy, it’s estimated that nearly two-thirds of women have diastasis recti. In other words, a mother’s stomach extends more than it did prior to pregnancy due to muscles separating from the abdominal wall.

Many women refer to this post pregnancy condition as a “pooch” that won’t go away.  The pressure the abdomen endures by carrying a baby is quite significant. And if a woman is carrying twins, the likelihood of diastasis recti increases. This also escalates when a woman becomes pregnant at 35 years of age or older.
A tummy tuck San Diego can help resolve the following:
  • Redundant skin
  • Stubborn fat deposits
  • Correct diastasis recti
Many plastic surgeons also utilize liposuction for more body contouring enhancements. A tummy tuck can slim the waistline, shape the hips, and create a flatter and tighter abdomen.

When a woman bears children, some decide to opt for breast feeding. After this special time with one’s babies, a woman may begin to notice that she has lost the youthful volume that she once had. Another thing she may notice is excessive skin.

For those who want to rejuvenate their breasts, a surgical solution is to undergo a breast lift.  A breast lift can remove this redundant skin, and if necessary, relocate the areolas for total aesthetics. In some instances, an areola reduction may also be a consideration if they have been stretched.

While some women may like implants after their breast lift to have more volume, other patients fare quite well without them. Each patient is different with their breast surgery and a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon will reveal what is most optimal.

If breast implants are ultimately decided, do reflect on what size is best for one’s lifestyle. If a mother has an active lifestyle with her family or is an outdoor enthusiast, then they may opt to have smaller implants. Breast surgery is a very personal decision – so take the time to make the very best decision.

Antidepressants and Cosmetic Surgery – Things to Consider before Undergoing a Procedure

For those who are considering plastic surgery or a reconstructive surgery, it is important to remember that prescribed medications are important to discuss with the surgeon before undergoing any procedure.

With longstanding medications, such as antidepressants, it is important that there is a conversation with not just the plastic surgeon in San Diego, but also with the patient’s primary care physician to see what options are available to keep the patient in optimal health leading up to the surgery. It’s important to know any benefits and repercussions that could occur to coming off medication for a surgical procedure, and doing extensive research before discussing this with a physician will help a patient be prepared with a list of questions to ask at a consultation.

When researching, it is crucial to search for the latest research regarding medications and San Diego plastic surgery or reconstructive surgery. New studies are performed frequently, and their findings could have an impact on the decision made by doctors, surgeons, and patients. For example, new findings have clearly manifested that it does not matter if an individual is going through Botox in San Diego or any other treatment; they can continue taking their antidepressants as these drugs do not have any sort of adverse effect.

The study published recently in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, stated that surgeons are generally concerned with any medication that could thin the blood, and put patients at risk during the procedure. Because the use of antidepressants has increased to about one in 10 adults in the United States, it was important to see how this prevailing medication could impact patients in either an intraoperative or postoperative way.

Researchers reviewed statistics and data that showed the relationship between cosmetic surgery, its risks, and antidepressants taken by patients. In the studies performed as part of the research, bleeding, breast cancer risk and outcome, and breast enlargement were reviewed. The results found that the risk for patients coming off of their antidepressants far outweighed any risks that would come from undergoing the surgery while taking medication.

In terms of bleeding due to antidepressants after a surgery, it was indicated that results were inconsistent, and it would be best for patients to continue their medication to keep from worsening any depression or mood imbalance symptoms. In terms of a correlation with breast cancer and antidepressants, there was also no evidence showing significant reason to cease medication prior to the breast reconstruction surgery.

The study also stated that no increased complications were found to be related to antidepressants, which would make it easier for patients who are suffering from mood disorders or anxiety to continue their medication while considering surgery.

Again, this research can help patients who have been considering a procedure that would require surgery make a decision. Any fear about becoming psychologically vulnerable is no longer a concern, especially if a clear and frank discussion is held with both the primary care physician and surgeon about expected outcomes. While this information is not the end-all in terms of antidepressants and surgical procedures, it is a way to begin preparing a list of discussion points with doctors about options available.

From the above-mentioned discussion, we can fairly conclude that if a patient is consuming medications such as antidepressants, he/she must have a talk with the concerned cosmetic surgeon before undertaking procedures such as eyelid surgery in San Diego, breast augmentation, or any other for that matter.

Redefine the Shape of Your Ears with Otoplasty

For many men and women, their ears are a source of frustration and concern. They feel that their ears protrude to a distractive level, and hide their ears behind hair, caps, and jewelry. While most children that have protruding ears are eligible for otoplasty – a surgery that helps pin back their ears to a normal shape – and undergo the process at the ages of 5 or 6, there is a significant number of people who were not able to have the surgery performed. Perhaps these individuals are not being bullied by their peers, but they do not feel confident in the process.

Breast Reduction Surgeries- For Perfectly Shaped Breasts

Presently, women are more beauty conscious than they used to be in early days. Every particular, regarding the physical appearance matters to them. It is a dream to many women to achieve a perfect body shape with symmetrical breast shapes and sizes. But all are not lucky enough to naturally possess flawless appearance. To those unfortunate people, cosmetic surgery is the only solution, left.

It is not like that, they will not be able to achieve aesthetically pleasing body shape through the natural procedures, like, dieting and exercise. Well, they can do. But it takes long time and often the result is not expected. So, many of them leave in the midway. Plastic surgery is for those women who want to achieve quick and effective result. Treatments, like, breast surgery can help to possess symmetrical and youthful breasts after pregnancy. On the other hand, abdominoplasty is the key to have a flat tummy.

The breast lift after a woman has breastfed is one of the most popular cosmetic enhancements that is discussed with plastic surgeons.

If a woman is not sure if a breast lift is the right option for her, she should consider discussing her concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon about what she would like to see in her body. The breast lift after a woman has breastfed is one of the most popular cosmetic enhancements that is discussed with plastic surgeons.

It is important to state that having sagging breasts because of breastfeeding is not the only reason that a woman could opt for a breast enhancement procedure. If any woman feels uncomfortable with her breasts for any reason, she should schedule an appointment with a plastic surgeon, and research options online so that she may know what questions to ask at the consultation.  Many women find that their surgeons have met many others with the same concerns, questions, and circumstances. The surgeon should be able to absolve their patient’s fears and clearly explain what could happen with the cosmetic procedure. The patients should consult professional plastic surgeon who offers solutions, regarding breast lift and San Diego breast augmentation.

The following top reasons have been listed by both surgeons and patients as reasons to undergo some type of breast surgery:

•    Significant Weight Loss
If a woman has worked hard on losing weight, she can see significant progress within a year or two. However, when a significant amount of weight has been lost overall, a woman’s breasts lose a lot of their shape. Women with this concern note that after a breast implant surgery or breast lift makes an enormous transformation in their figure.

•    Uneven Breasts
Some women have suffered throughout their entire lives because they have uneven breasts. While no pair of breasts is perfectly symmetrical, some patients have anywhere from one to two cup size difference between their breasts. This can have a significant impact on a woman’s self-esteem, and they can correct this aesthetic concern with either a breast reduction or breast implants. Women might know that breast lift and breast augmentation surgeries are quite popular. Consult a surgeon who provides treatment regarding San Diego breast augmentation surgery.

•    Size Reduction
Some women may have had a previous breast augmentation, or may naturally have large breasts. Patients who have had a breast augmentation beforehand may find that they would rather have a smaller set of implants put in because of their physique. For women who have larger breasts naturally, there is a lot of pain and discomfort that accompany breast size. With a breast reduction, back and shoulder pain dissipates, and a patient can feel confident with her figure, knowing that she is more proportionate after the procedure.

A consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon is the first step one should take.

Fat Grafting Widely Used For Facelift Surgery

Over the last ten years, a technique called “fat grafting” has been utilized as part of operational facial rejuvenation surgery. The reason for this shift is due to the loss of volume many experience in particular areas of the face during the aging process.

While a limited incision facelift and/or traditional facelift can address the removal of redundant skin and repositioning of fat, the one thing it cannot execute is adding volume. And herein lies where fat grafting is beneficial for a more youthful transformation.

A board certified plastic surgeon that specializes in facial surgery will use liposuction to harvest fat cells from an area of a patient’s body such as the abdomen or upper thighs for this special procedure.
Please note that the amount harvested is quite small and in no way resembles a body sculpting procedure. On average, the amount of fat gathered is around 10 to 25 cubic centimeters which averages out to two to four teaspoons.
